Another morning slipped by me as I awoke around noon. I looked around my familiar pale green room. TV, Cowboy Bebop movie poster, PS2 and Game Cube, everything was in it's place. Everything was normal but I didn't want to get up, I didn't want this day to come but it was there and I couldn't do anything about it. Rohry's farewell party was in a couple of hours, I guess I felt that if there was no party, that if he just kind of left that it would be as if he never left. Eventually I decided that being sad was kind of dumb so I climbed down to my bottom bunk to watch some anime until I had to leave. I only had enough time for one episode but The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was pretty funny. My drive to the school was kind of somber, not the usual blare music and sing to it kind of thing.
When I got to the school everyone was sitting quietly in the CAB room. It was almost like we were about to attend a funeral. I chatted with Kayla for a few minutes before we decided to get up and go to the other room. In the room we found fruit and a cake, the food seemed to excite Erik but not as much as a pizza would have. Chris had put together a photo montage from the two years Rohry worked at the school. The first hour was kind of boring, Shane had a large group of people around him and Kayla, Erik and I conversed about various topics. Well, most of it was Kayla complaining about how Shane was in the room, how happy she was that this was the last time she'd ever see him, etc. During the second hour and a half we played Apples to Apples which would be the highlight of any party. I don't remember all of the hilarious combinations of words but it was as wonderful as ever.
As all good things usually do, the party ended quite abruptly mainly because Chris and Rohry really needed to get back to work. Kayla and I both gave Rohry a hug and walked out together where Kayla once again noted that she was happy she'd never see Shane again, I just thought about how much I'd miss Rohry.
