More break ups

Once I was finished at Umbers I decided to call Seth since Lee had invited me to his party and I didn’t have Lee’s phone number. Seth told me where the house was and I arrived unscathed. Now I remember at some point about a month ago Paul, another friend of mine and Lee’s, said he needed to introduce me to him since he and his girlfriend broke up and she was a bitch to him and blah blah blah, same girlfriend bullshit. Well, that very night I felt that I had a crush on him… for about five minutes while we sang Sugar We’re Going Down. After that I sat next to some girl who didn’t seem to be having any fun. I decided to play nice and introduce myself; she introduced herself and added in a rough voice that she was Lee’s girlfriend. Well, that killed whatever it was that I felt before that since I don’t go for anyone who is already committed to anyone.

At some point we all decided to walk to the bar near Lee’s house to sing Karaoke. The bar was kind of small and there were under aged girls singing when we got there. Once they finished their song they were rushed out though since it was 12 at that point. Everyone had a good time drinking, dancing, and singing for about an hour. The entire time Lee’s girlfriend stood in the middle of the walkway looking dejected. Seeing her like this I decided to be the nice person I am inside and ask her if everything was okay. She said that she was find and was just about to leave. None of this seemed like a good thing so what happened next was no surprise to me at all, she had been sending bad vibes all night, I knew those vibes all too well.

After a quick trip to the bathroom I saw Lee’s girlfriend being asked to leave the bar and Lee in tears. He was pretty drunk before she started to fight with him and the whole fight thing must have made him even more depressed than the alcohol made him. When she was escorted out he went after her, trying to make things work out but she wouldn’t have it, she just went home. For the next half an hour we sat in a booth listening to Lee repeat the same few things over and over. What had he done? Was he such a bad boyfriend? Did he ever do anything to her to warrant this? No, he had not. The entire situation reminded me of my most recent break up that happened about two years ago. Did I deserve what I got? Fuck no! I did everything for the guy and he decided to leave me for god knows why.

Everyone got back to Lee’s house safely after listening to him sob. Everyone decided to stay with him for a few more hours since his ex girlfriend (or whatever) was sleeping in his bed and we didn’t really want him to hurt himself or anything. It took about another half an hour but Seth, Paul, and I finally left Lee in the hands of some of his friends from Frostburg.
